National Youth Policy

While youth represent almost one third of the Lebanese population, the Lebanese government has not yet implemented the National Youth policy that was developed in 2012. The livelihoods of young people vary across the country and are extreme in remote areas. Despite high literacy rates (97%), the youth unemployment rate is at 20%, according to UNDP Spotlight on Youth in Lebanon, 2015 report .

To support the implementation of the Lebanese National Youth policy, the EU funds the Support for Youth Development project. The main objective of this project is to contribute to the institutional reform process and encourage greater involvement from the government and civil society organisations in the public policy-making process for youth development in Lebanon.
